To live in the summer house

Well, the good things are many.

I like being close to nature. Like watching the birds that arrive in the spring from the south of Europe or even Africa. Some come here to nest and others stop here to rest for a while before they fly on further north.

I like to see the animals when they come close to the house. It can be moose, raindeer, deer and fox and arctic hare. In May I see artic hare every morning on our lawn, on the grass outside the house. I also like to study the different  insects I find in the summer. I look them up in a book and write down the date I saw them...
In spring and summer I like to have breakfast outside, To sit in the morningsun and look at the water etc before going to work.

I like to wach the sunset in the evening and the sunrise in the morning. The colors in the sky, the formations of the clouds and how colors reflect in the water.

I like to follow the different seasons, to clearly see how the sun rises earlier and earlier day by day in January and February. How the morning is dark black in Januari at 6.30 and how a red light shows at the horizon later in Januari and grows, day by day and finally I see part of the sun and later the whole sun at 6.30. I is so interesting!

I like to look at the stars at night and  I like to see the moon. Sometimes.like in August and September the moonlight makes a shiny "road" on the water.

I also like to follow how the flowers come up in spring and to follow them from bulb to ready flower, I like to follow the changes of seasons in the trees, their different shades of green, yellow, red...

I like to wake up early in the morning, go out and enjoy the calm weather (the sea is usually calm until 8 in the morning) see  the birds that swim close to the shore, or to rest in the shade..or sun.

I like to be able to walk in the forest, pick and eat the berries and in the autumn to look for mushrooms.
I like the sauna.
I like to swim in the sea when the water is not too cold.
I like to go out with the boat/canoe.

I also sleep so well here in Boviken. It is very silent in autumn and winter. In the summer the birds make a lot of noise and the motor boats too!

Well, the problems can be in the winter to get to work in time. Both heavy snow and ice can make it difficult.  Now we have bought a better car that has four wheel drive. Also we can use an electric snow machine(?) so that makes it much easier for us. A negative thing is that it takes 20 minutes to drive to work instead of 5 minutes when we are in town. The gasoline bill is more expensive.

Other problems can be that the house is very small when all our children come here at Christmas. They sleep everywhere! In the summer we havemore space as we have  the small guest houses.

Other wise we have most things that we need. We are going to buy a combinated fridge and freezer so that we don't have to walk to the garage all the time. There is where the freeze is now.

As you see I have more positive than negative things!

Continued from "The summer house of my friend"(link1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
I asked the owner of this summer house “what are the good and bad in the life at this summer house?”. She pointed out lots of good and a few bad points. Here is the extraction of her e-mail. It tells us the attractive life in nature.
As I have been watching the people’s life in Sweden for four years, her life style is not specific for her but common for many Swedish.

Drawing for small children

もうすぐJul(クリスマス)。

タイトルは「Tomte i snöstrom(吹雪の中のトムテ)」。

God Jul !

Merry JUL! (Christmas)

Last weeks, children prepared something for the Christmas in the dagis (child day care).
Small children cannot draw well of course. But a small help made the children’s drawing nicely. In our dagis, a child drew the Jul Tomte with black pen, as the way he wanted. Then, a teacher draw a hat, eyes and a mouse on the children’s drawing. I guess that it will be fun for the children to find out the Tomte on their drawings during the communication with the teacher. For the parents, it is also nice since this small help made the child drawing “recognizable” and can be the ornament for the Christmas. (Photo1,2)

Another way of interesting drawing is here.
Four chldren shared four colors, each of which color was in a cup.
By trading cups and mixing colors with other children, they learn communication. Their collaborated drawing is the result of their communication.
All the age classes were mixed in our dagis before the summer. But after the summer, children were divided into elder ones (3-5 years old) and younger ones (1-3 years old). This new arrangement was good for the children as their teachers become to think of more suitable plays for the children's ages than before.
These drawing ways that I presented here would not be applied if the new age arrangement was not done. (Photo3,4)

With nature

Continued from “The summer house of my friend” (link12345).
While I was in the sauna with my friends, the owners were singing songs with their relatives who had dinner together. With the guitar play, they sung songs very naturally. Old and young sung the same songs together without hesitate. They were really enjoying.
It was a heart warming time to see their songs during the sky was getting darker and darker. (Photo1)

Around 22 o’clock, view from the east deck. Standing on the deck beside the sea, the dark sky hang over me and wrapped. Everything on the ground was hidden in the expanded dark sky. Huge and dark sky. I know no word to express my emotion. (Photo2)
Six o’clock in the morning, from the east deck. Everything was shining in the morning sun. Quiet, but the time to start the lives again. (Photo3)
Canoeing was fun, as it moved by my own power. (Photo4)
We can feel nature in the sun room of this summer house too. In the sunroom, the scene of the sea comes up to eyes because of the window opening to 2 sides. In heavy weather... (The following photos were from the other day, when it was stormy (last year). (Photo5) The heavy sea to see in the sunroom is wonderful too. (Photo6)
Feeling the nature changing day and time, I recognize myself living in the nature.

Garden

The house is surrounded by the garden (ca. 30×40m2). There are three small buildings (one for storage + sauna, two for guest cabins) in the garden.
Each cabin can accommodate small family (3 to 4 persons). These are the bedrooms for guests. (Photo)
All the messy things are in the storage. There is also a big freezer that compensates the small one in the main buidling. Having a supplemental freezer is very common in Sweden.
